What Is It?
By leveraging an app, like UberEats, you pickup up food from local restaurants and deliver it to people at their homes for a fee.
How Does It Work?
A lot of this is very similar to how ridesharing apps work.
After a vetting process, such as a ensuring you have a vehicle that fits the apps requirements and have valid license/registration, you then use the app on your phone to set when you are available for food delivery. When someone orders food from their app they are automatically assigned a delivery driver based on which one is nearest the restaurant. The driver has the ability to accept or decline the order. Once accepted the driver is given directions to the restaurant and instructions on the order and who it is for. After picking up the order, the app will give directions to the customers location for drop off. The system takes care of all the payments and some let clients enter a tip while others set the tip automatically. At any time you can stop when you are working, making this quite flexible.
How Much Money Can You Make?
$500+/month depending on the hours you work, how long the drives are from the pickup to drop off and if you work during busy periods as the apps typically charge people more during this period. Drivers keep the majority of the fares they charge, anywhere from 70%-80%, as well as 100% of tips but they also need to pay for their own vehicle maintenance and gas. After factoring in expenses, drivers can make anywhere between $15-$20/hour.
- There are less vehicle restrictions than typical ridesharing apps, meaning if you have an older car this might be the one for you.
